2009 - 2010

Marie Daniela Ayala Solana

Maria Daniela Ayala Solana has recently turned 18 years old.  She lives with her parents, Angelica Solana Cardenas and Guillermo Ayala Carrera, and 9-year-old sister, Julia A. Ayala Solana, in the city and state of Durango, Mexico.

She writes: "At the moment I am studying in the technological institute of studies superiors of Monterrey (ITESM) attending 6 semesters of prepartory.  I take to 5 matters (heat and electricity, philosophy, enterprising spirit, English and socio-economic structures of Mexico) each with a duration of 1 hour.  Usually, the semesters are of 5 months with 7 matters.  But fortunately this one semester, I only take 5 matters thanks to the fact that in the past summer it advanced 2 of them: Integral calculation and the man and science.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, being online, chat with friends, going to humming, walking, muffins with my friends (to sell) and help my sister with homework.  On weekends I like being with my family and my friends.

Jose Pablo Bezunartea Granados

Cuauhtemoc Chihuahua, Mexico

Jose Pablo writes,

By means of this letter, I address myself to you to say hello and to tell you a little about myself.  I'm 17 years old, I'm Mexican and I am asking if you would like to receive me at your home as a member of your family from 10 to 11 months, through a Rotary Youth Interchange.

I'm currently studying High School, where I study Health science, calculus, accounting and food processing amoung other subjects.

I go to school from 8:00am to 2:00pm.  I wake up at 7:00am, I clean my bedroom, I take a shower, I eat breakfast and then I go to school.  I have my own car.  School finishes at 2:00pm.  I go home and eat, and at 4:00pm I start working at a Japanese food restaurant as a waiter; sometimes they send me to deliveries.  I give myself some time to do my homework and study.

On the weekend, I go out with my friends, I go to the movies, and we drive around.  I like to do exercise (weightlifting), I participate in my school in the Cheerleading team for one year, where I had the opportunity to meet and make friends; we traveled to many cities.

I like listen to music, surf the net, ride horses and I like cats and dogs as pets.

I thank you in advance for your attention and I hope you accept me.  I look forward to meeting you.

Vito Maceda, from Fortaleza, Brazil

Vito says,

When I was in Brazil I used to practice wrestling, then I arrived here and like all Brazilians, I played soccer in fall and I swam for West High.  Now I am still swimmong for the YMCA and will probably finish the year doing it. I lived with the Rios and now I'm living with the Leschke and I'm going to live with Aronson for 2 months in summer.

I love Oshkosh, especially because the people here are very friendly and everywhere I go everybody talks to me, shows interest in and other things.  Thank you very much for hosting me Downtown Club and be sure that I'm coming back to hear all the funny happy dollars.

2006-2007

Rotary Exchange Student Paula Schemmert Paula Schemmert, our 2006-07 Rotary Exchange Student, joins the Oshkosh Rotary Club from Berlin, Germany.

From Paula:

"Back in Germany I used to be a cheerleader for American football. Besides doing sports, my hobbies are  meeting friends, going to movies, shopping, talking on the phone like every other girls' hobbies;-) At West I was on the gymnastics team in winter and I did track in spring.   I arrived here in the middle of August and stayed till the end of June.  My first host was Sandra Joseph.  Then I stayed with the Gustafsons in Town of Black Wolf.  I had a great time here even though especially the size of my home city and free-time-opportunities caopared to Oshkosh are huge differences.

Thank you very much, Rotary Downtown Club, for hosting me!"
